Cuff

Cuff folders for finished cuffs and closures.

The cuff category

What a cuff folder does.

A cuff folder forms and positions the finished cuff at the end of a sleeve or leg, folding and creasing the cuff material so the machine sews a clean, symmetric closure. It is an appearance and closure operation, the cuff is on the visible end of a sleeve, so it has to be even and consistent from one garment to the next.

The folder is shaped to the cuff geometry and sized to the fabric, and it holds the fold through the straight run and around the closure. Because a cuff is a small, visible, finished feature, the fold accuracy and the way the folder handles the join define whether the finished cuff looks tailored or rough.

Cuff work finishes the ends of sleeves and legs, so the folder is chosen for the cuff design and the fabric. Selecting one means matching the cuff geometry to the garment, the fabric weight to the folder, and the folder to the machine that sews the finished cuff.
